By Hinda Gross, Class of 2025
I came to JUMP with expectations, and they were all surpassed.
JUMP 2022 Nishmat Adin brought together a nicely sized crew, and we took a red-eye for the convention. My school's group had a good time running ideas off of each other, but this year there were much fewer schools in comparison to to the prior convention of the year before. We were one of the few schools selected, and that truly felt like the advisors were choosing quality over quantity.
The idea played out once we were discussing problems in our community. Family unity, Jewish engagement, Shabbat observance - these were all topics our group discussed thoroughly. The judges told us we needed to make people care - and that was when we finally started connecting through personal experiences.
I ended up being interviewed alongside Sarah Nevah, a schoolmate of mine, by Rabbi David Bashevkin. Immediately, I picked up on the fact that Rabbi Bashevkin is a taleted conversationalist, and there was a reason he was chosen to be there.
At the end of the day, I realized the connections we made during JUMP in regard to our project will stick with us, and we are working on implementing it into our Jewish community.
